ApexSQL Audit installation fails and changes are rolled back silently without any warning or dialog

The ApexSQL Audit installation runs normally until the required SQL Server and credentials information are entered and after that installation fails and the changes are rolled back. The installer just closes without any warning or info dialog.

The logic behind detecting the proper .Net Framework requirements is not properly implemented in ApexSQL Audit R2, resulting in sometimes unpredictable behavior of the installer.

Affected versions:
ApexSQL Audit 2014.02 and 2014.03

Operating systems with corrupted .Net Framework 4.5 installation are also affected.

This issue affects all Windows operating systems prior to Windows 8 /Server 2012.

Installing (reinstalling if corrupted) the .Net Framework 4.5 prior to installing ApexSQL Audit 2014 R2 or R3 will fully resolve this issue. It is recommended to use the off line installer that can be download from here. This is the latest (4.5.2) full off line installer. The Web installer is also available.
