Summary
This article explains what to do if you’re experiencing performance issues with Microsoft Visual Studio/SQL server Management Studio while using (or just having installed) ApexSQL add-ins

Symptoms
Visual Studio and/or SQL server Management Studio are having long start-up times and/or are feeling sluggish
Cause
The cause of the problem is difficult to pinpoint. However, we can confirm that ApexSQL Complete and ApexSQL Refactor, in certain scenarios, may cause Visual Studio and/or SQL server Management Studio initial start-up times to become up to 5x slower
Most of the problems occur when two or more add-ins are installed at the same time. For example, when ApexSQL Refactor and ApexSQL Search are both installed, Visual Studio will start after approximately 50 seconds – while its start-up time without the add-ins is about 3 seconds
